Hi Richard- I have been a friend of Joan's since our VNA days. I just wanted to let you know how achingly sad I am for you, Julia, Joe and all of us who have lost such a meaningful light in the universe. I like to think that she will shine on. But I also wanted to say to you that I have loved reading your updates, and the obit, especially the phrase about her dying where and how she wanted. To me, that said it all about Joanie's oh so impressive choices about the way she lived until she died. I marveled always, and still do. But I want you to know that your words touched me and I thank you for them. I so loved your sister!

I don't know how one mourns a light such as her's. Maybe you just try to celebrate it; but I'm way more selfish than she was--It is much harder for me to let go. But I wish you well and trust that she will be "out there", hopefully nearby, always. Warmly Beth Keller
